We have had an excellent week of learning in Reception!

Today we wrote lots of inventive sentences using our sound of the day ‘x’. I am so impressed by their writing!

In maths we have been looking at weight and capacity. We learnt the words ‘heaviest’ and ‘lightest’. We involved ourselves in lots of different activities – ordering objects by weight, weighing the fruit on the snack table, making foil boats and seeing which one was the heaviest and which one was the lightest when placed in water. We also learnt what capacity is and we used the language, ‘full’, ‘half full’, ‘nearly empty,’ ’empty.’

We had a pirate themed afternoon where we learnt how to make pirate hats and followed instructions. We also made a pirate ship outside and made our own treasure maps and wrote a wanted poster for the missing pirate.

We have also been practising our physical development skills by making an obstacle course and jumping off objects and learning how to land safely. We are also loving our Tennis lessons on Wednesdays!
