Year 6 Go Overboard with Drama!

Reported by Clarissa

St Vincent’s Year 6 have begun to get ready for the big moment- their Production! You might be waiting for us to give away the show’s title, but unluckily for you, we are keeping our mouths closed! After a few weeks, all will be revealed by the posters that we will stick around the school.

Are you thinking that the production is just like any assembly? Well, you are wrong. This production is dissimilar to any other assemblies that have happened in the school. Year 6 had auditions which were held a fortnight after SATs. This was done so that the parts could be given fairly. Parts were announced the following day and, once everyone knew their parts, rehearsals started. A child commented, “I can’t wait to begin rehearsing!”

Over the next few weeks, we will be doing lots of rehearsals, which is going to be so much fun. We will also be trying on costumes and painting backdrops. Most children can’t wait to see the show. In Year 5, one child begged, ” Please tell me; I’m desperate to know what you show is!” Everything will be revealed in July.

Year 6 Ship their Talents to a Whole New Level!

Reported by Patricia, Performing Arts reporter

Class 6 from St Vincent’s have been working hard for the long-awaited production and have already begun rehearsals. Most people still have no clue what this show could be, as everyone in Year 6 has sealed their lips about the secret. Year 6 will be performing their production in July; in the meantime, they are focusing on rehearsals.

Auditions were the toughest part for the teachers as they played their role of being judges.

“All pupils who auditioned were absolutely amazing; as a judge, it was an extremely hard decision to pick the roles!” commented Ms Hackett, who was an audition judge. The auditions were a fairer way for pupils to get their roles. In addition, auditions will help pupils to be prepared for their secondary school performances. After two hours of auditioning, the judges finally made up their minds.

The following day was full of excitement and nervousness, as the teachers announced the roles for everyone. Many pupils were happy with their roles but a few weren’t so happy. However, as Mrs Robinson remarked, ” I am sure that everyone will make the best of their roles.” Everyone in Class 6 over the next few weeks will be rehearsing, making costumes and props and much more.

The other children and teachers in St Vincent’s  will only find out what the production is as soon as the blue curtains are opened in July!
