ANTI-BULLYING WEEK 2018 ‘CHOOSE RESPECT’

Monday 12th November to Friday 16th November is National Anti-Bullying Week coordinated by the Anti- Bullying Alliance. Anti-Bullying Week shines a spotlight on bullying and encourages all children, teachers and parents to take action against bullying throughout the year. The theme this year is  to choose respect over bullying.

The aims of this week are to help children and young people, school staff, parents and other professionals who work with children to understand:

The definition of respect
That bullying is a behaviour choice
That we can respectfully disagree with each other i.e. we don’t have to be best friends or always agree with each other but we do have to respect each other
That we all need to choose to respect each other both face to face and online

During this week each class will participate in lots of different activities and assemblies, which promote anti-bullying. However St Vincent’s recognises that this focus should not just be for one week and is committed to long-term sustainable measures to prevent and deal with any form of bullying behaviour, working together with children and parents to address this important issue.
