Yesterday we welcomed a very special visitor to school-Irene De Pasquale from Eco-schools who came to assess whether we could renew our Eco-Schools Green Flag.

Eco-Schools empowers pupils to make positive change. Eco-Schools is operated globally by the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE), and was launched in 1994 in response to the 1992 UN Rio Earth Summit.

Environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy is the Eco-Schools National Operator for England, where more than 18,000 schools are registered and 1,200 schools currently hold the internationally recognised Eco-Schools Green Flag. The programme provides a framework for learning and action around ten topics – marine, biodiversity, energy, litter, global citizenship, healthy living, school grounds, transport, waste and water. It follows a seven-step process to lead schools on their journey to achieving a Green Flag Award.

Our Green Team, including Ms Hackett and Ms Knowler, led an informative presentation for the assessor, celebrating the wonderful work they have done, especially our work on air pollution. They then took her on a tour of the school, showing our recycling, our growing areas, and the impact of our Green Charter.

The assessor was very impressed and we are thrilled to renew our Green Flag. Well done everyone and keep up the good, green work!
