Our new project in Class 6 is ‘Freedom’ We began with a Creativity Morning themed around ‘Animal Freedom’. Thank you to all of the parents who came and helped us to create some stunning artwork, including clay tiles, silk paintings, pastel landscapes, negative images and a mural for our classroom door. The poems and songs below were also inspired by our Creativity Morning:

When you’re locked up in a malevolent cage,

And there’s nothing in your heart but rage.

But through the torrent of darkness…hark!

Still singing is the lonely lark.

And as long as that lark still does sing,

Does dwell eternity in everything.

And when at last the door is ajar

Then you know the way home isn’t at all far!

And when you arive,

You’ll be filled with surprise

And the world will be one with peace!

When that happens, my son,

At last you will have won,

And at last you will be free!

Free to be, whatever, you can be.   By J.

To be Free as a bird
It’s the next best thing to want
To be Free as a bird
La, la, la, la
Home and free
Like a homing bird I fly
As a bird in the sky
Whatever happened to the life that I once lived
Can we really live without the fresh air?
How did we lose the fresh breeze
That seemed to mean so much
It always made me want
To be Free as a bird
It’s the next best thing to want
To be Free as a bird
La, la, la, la
Home and dry
Like a homing bird I fly
As a bird in the sky
Whatever happened to
The life that I once knew?
Always made me want
To be Free as a bird
It’s the next best thing to be
To be Free as a bird
I love being Free as a bird
Free
Ooh, ooh, ooh
Free   By T.

When I am stuck in a cage I am sad

but when you let me out I feel glad.

A cage is like a prison

so please will you listen?

I am as equal as you

and how would you like it if someone did that to you?

I am just a normal bird trying to be set free

so I can go and live with my family.

Please let me be.

I think all species should live in peace and harmony! By E
