This week, we have been learning about the message of the prophet Isaiah and how his words connect to the birth of Jesus. We began by reading Isaiah 9:2:
“The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light.”
We reflected on how light and darkness are shown in scripture and in art. We explored how artists use colour, shade and brightness to express feelings of hope, peace and joy, and we discussed how Jesus is the great light that Isaiah promised.
We also looked at how Isaiah’s message links to the Nativity story in Luke 2:1-7. We learned that Jesus brings light into the world, just as a bright star lights the sky at Christmas.
🎨 Stained Glass Window Craft
We created our own stained glass-style artwork using tissue paper and black frames. Each design includes symbols of light, such as stars, candles and the crib. We then wrote about our art, explaining how our chosen symbols remind us of Jesus bringing hope and light to others.
✨ Our Message of Light
We have thought about how we can bring light to others through kindness, helping others and sharing joy. Just as Isaiah looked forward to a great light, we can shine a light in the world today through our words and actions.
