This half term Year 1 have been taking part in both indoor and outdoor PE lessons, this half term in our outdoor PE we have focussed on ball skills and in our indoor PE we are doing dance. Year 1 have been absolutely loving this terms dance lessons.

We began our dance lesson with a warm up, next we began to learn our skills which for this dance lessons were different moves and types of dance movement. We looked at a range of different moves: we did jumping, balancing, spinning kicking, rolling, the wave and many more.

First of all coach began by demonstrating the moves and letting year 1 copy them. We spent some time working on developing our skills. We were very good at many of them but needed to spend more time on others such a finding a balance which they could keep.

We then began to move around the room and stop when the music stopped. We then as the music stopped did one of our new dance moves. This was a good way to test not only our listening skills but also the dance skills we had been working very hard on developing.

Towards the end of the lesson we then got into pairs and began to plan a sequence of moves. We were going to be creating a dance which involved some of our new moves that we had learnt during our lesson. Lots of the children worked so hard with their partners and created beautiful dances and sequences of moves.

We had a few pairs come up at the ending of our lesson and show us their amazing dances. It was lovely to see the children working so hard with their friends whilst also developing their dance skills.

Well done Year 1, you had a fabulous dance lesson and are all so talented!
