Next week, we will be celebrating World Book Day, which this year is part of the National Year of Reading. The big idea is simple: Go All In.
But what does that actually mean?
It means choosing reading.
It means giving it a proper go.
It means finding something you actually enjoy and diving right in.
Reading doesn’t just mean thick novels or books you think you should like. Reading can be:
- comics or graphic novels
- football fact books
- joke books
- fantasy, adventure, mystery or horror
- cookbooks, craft books or how-to guides
- books that make you laugh
- books that help you learn something new
If you enjoy it, it counts!
‘Go All In’ is about reading with enthusiasm; not because you’ve been told to, but because you’ve found something that grabs your attention. The kind of book you want to talk about. The kind you recommend to a friend. The kind you think about even when you’re not reading it.
When you go all in on a book:
- you give it a proper chance
- you stick with it for a bit
- you let yourself enjoy it
And sometimes, you discover a new favourite.
For World Book Day, we’re going to use this blog to share our favourite books and recommend them to each other.
In the comments, tell us:
- the title of the book
- the author
- why you’d recommend it
There is nothing better than finding a book you can’t put down. Books spark our imaginations, build our knowledge, and help us understand the world (and ourselves) a little better.
I can’t wait to hear all of your brilliant recommendations!
