We love Science in Year 6 and were excited to choose our own question for Science Week.
We decided that we would like to answer the question: “What sort of vehicle would be best on the moon?”
After discussing what we know about the moon, we designed our own lunar rovers taking into account what it is used for, what it might need to carry and what kind of terrain it needs to cover.
Here are finished designs. Can you tell us more about your lunar rovers, Year 6?
On mine I added a safe place so if anything gone wrong they would have been safe .Also at the front I added another because the person driving the vehicle might not be safe
My rover has strong wheels,different buttons that do jobs like heating or hill mode.It was so fun to draw.
My lunar rover was for people who love monster energy so it has box’s of monster energy and it has missiles that shoots cans of monster and it shoots the cans at aliens and the wheels have no suspension
In my lunar rover I added a hot air balloon to make it very light and make it float. My lunar rover works with gas and has a caterpillar track so it traps the rocks.

My Lunar Rover was made of lightweight materials and 4 large rubber wheels to make it steady. I included outside and inside controls with foldable beds. I added a camera so that you know what is happening at all times. I also put an antennae so that the people on earth can locate them wherever they are. I think that this is the most suitable vehicle to walk on the moon (even though we couldn’t test them)because it is very sturdy because of its huge wheels. I really enjoyed doing this activity because I had the opportunity to use my imagination and create a new vehicle.
My lunar rover has a cold or hot setting because it it can be veto hot or cold on the moon.It also is very light because it still has to get to the moon.I have also made lights on the outside and inside to see things better.
I made a nasa truck for the moon I also put on track wheels to make it easy to drive around and it only weighs 100kg
It was so fun and exiting ! Mine includes devices , trackers and flashlights to help guide the way. It has light materials so they could get it up onto the moon and wheels for it with good grips so it could go well on the rocky ground of the moon! It showed the earth and has heaters to keep the people warm in the climate of the moon. I added a ladder and other accessories that were good for my Luna rova!
My lunar rover had three part in total ,and two of them had tank wheels because on the moon the ground is not flat as that. The third part is food for the astronauts to eat,anyway is not easy to take up the moon.
My lunar rover has very strong wheels and is built for the moon and is very strongly built also it is perfectly the right weight
Mine has caterpillar tyres so it can grip easily. There is a cannon in case of emergency. There is a window to see outside and it is light so it can be carried up to the moon.
I absolutely loved drawing the lunar rovers since you can use creative ideas and imagination to draw and label your lunar rover . I also loved the question because you can not go to the moon and see but you can imagine it . My lunar rover has : a rocket to launch to the moon , tyres with grip , a tube from the inside to go outside , Michael Jackson ( the astronaut who is trying my engine) , on top there are extra tyres. Now inside my lunar rover is : a bathtub to take a bath , a bed , a toilet , a door to a gaming room, and windows. And NASA is the logo for my lunar rover!!!!
I loved drawing my lunar rover.It was fun to draw and try to figure out how to avoid all the problems.My lunar rover has a fibreglass chassis as fibreglass is resistant and strong.It has traction tyres and a grenade launcher to destroy any rocks in the lunar rover’s way.It also has a device to pick up lunar rock.The engine is piston engine like a car’s.Thank you for the activity ; it was very fun!
Mine is a tank like lunar suitable vehicle it has food for a month and water for 2 months it weighs 150 kg and costs 50,000 pounds and a tv
My lunar rover has a tire casing that is light so it can be transported easily on the rocket to the moon. When you get there you can fill the casing with moon rocks to make it withstand the moons gravity. The tire is actually a caterpillar tread (which is used on tanks) so it can drive over the moons rocky surface easily.
My lunar rover included light weight material, a light so people can find it easily in case of danger I added a computer so they can contact their families and nasa for example . I also needed to add priority stuff too so you can also find food and water in the vehicle , for long journeys there is a small toilet cabin . No worries if you are tiered you can find a small bed . My vehicle can only fit 3 people at once ,or otherwise it would be over the weight limit.
