This week in our PSED learning, we explored the important topic of staying safe when playing online.
We began by revisiting our previous learning about the internet and discussing how devices such as computers, phones and tablets should be used carefully and responsibly. Together, we listened to the story ‘Freddy Teddy Plays Online’, pausing throughout to discuss the different choices Freddy Teddy made and whether they were safe or unsafe.
The children showed great understanding as they shared some sensible ideas about what you should do if something unfamiliar pops up online and who they can talk to if something makes them feel worried or uncomfortable when playing online or using the internet. We also reflected on how our bodies and minds are precious gifts from God and why it is important to look after ourselves both online and offline.
For our activity, Reception enjoyed drawing pictures of things they like to do offline alone, or with their families and friends. This helped us to remember the message that although technology can be fun and useful, it is equally important to spend time playing, exploring and connecting with others away from screens.
We ended our lesson with a prayer, thanking God for looking after us and helping us to stay safe.
Well done Reception for your lovely ideas about online safety!
