This week, Year 4 had a fantastic time taking part in a sushi-making workshop with a professional chef! We learned all about the nori sheet and how to lay it out correctly before carefully spreading the sushi rice into a smooth, even layer using our fingers to achieve this.
Next, we added our vegetables (cucumbers, peppers and carrots), making sure to place them in the correct position before learning the special technique for rolling our sushi into a perfect shape. Once everyone had finished rolling, the chef came around and expertly sliced each roll into bite-sized pieces so that we could enjoy our sushi creations!
It was a really fun, hands-on experience, and we all enjoyed learning a new skill while discovering more about Japanese food and culture.
Year 4, what did you enjoy about the workshop and what kind of sushi would you have a go at making next?
