In Nursery the children have been busy developing their independence and mealtime skills through a special table-setting activity.

The children carefully laid the table with plates, knives, and forks before sitting together in small groups to enjoy a shared snack. Each child chose either milk or water to drink and had a banana to eat. Instead of using their hands, the children practised using their knives and forks to carefully chop up their banana before eating it.

We were delighted to see the children demonstrating such fantastic independence. Once they had finished, they remembered to place their knife and fork together on their plate, scrape away any leftovers, and help tidy everything away.

It was wonderful to spend time together in small groups, chatting and enjoying the mealtime routine. Activities like these help children build confidence, develop fine motor skills, and encourage good table manners. We are incredibly proud of how much the children have grown in confidence with their eating skills and independence.
