This week, we practised rolling the ball to one another, focusing on developing our control, coordination and accuracy. We began by talking about what it means to roll a ball and how, when rolling correctly, the ball should stay in contact with the floor rather than being thrown or bounced. The children listened carefully and began to think about the different ways they could roll the ball successfully to their partners.
We discussed the importance of looking at our partner and choosing the right direction to roll the ball so that it would reach them safely. The children also explored how much force they needed to use, thinking about how rolling the ball too gently might mean it would not reach their partner, while using too much force could cause it to roll too far away. Through lots of practice, they began to develop a better understanding of how to control the speed and direction of the ball.
The children enjoyed taking turns to roll and receive the ball, practising their skills and working together with their partners. They were encouraged to watch the ball carefully, use their hands to guide it and think about how they could improve their accuracy with each attempt. This activity helped the children develop their fundamental movement skills, build confidence in handling a ball and understand the importance of teamwork and cooperation during PE. Well done to everyone for their enthusiasm and effort!
