For your Physical Education homework this week, you are going to explore different dance movements and link these movements to a piece of music.

First of all we are going to think about an animal and how they move.

Close your eyes and imagine a big brown fluffy cat. Think about how they move, can they climb? What shapes do they make?

Listen to this piece of music.

As you listen, image a cat’s different positions and movements – moving slowly, curled into ball, sleeping, stretching, dodging and pouncing.

Now think of five different movements for a cat. Try to link these movements together.

Finally have a go at putting these movements together with the music.

Post how you got on in the blog, you might like to say what movements you did!

  3. Hello Miss Jones,

    My five movements are:

The cat climbs with her two front sharp claws like people dancing with their hands up. Then they lay in their back and move their paws like she is breakdancing. She walks wiggling her tail in different directions. At the end of her dance the cat sit by her front legs straight and her back legs bended.

    Hello Miss Jones
    We were inspired by Gidget (a dog) from The Secret Life of Pets 2 when she learns how to be a cat. Here are our 5 cat movements;
    1. Leaping from a cat tree and landing on our feet
    2. Pouncing
    3. Scratching furniture with our sharp claws
    4. Stretching out
    5. Creeping around slowly

  11. Hi Miss Jones,
I have two cats at home so I watch what they do a lot.
They stretch a lot by putting their front legs out and push their bottoms up.
When they want a tickle they come up and headbutt me or rub their head against me.
Little kitty likes to run up trees, I saw her do it once but she was a bit scared and fell down.
Big kitty likes to pounce by creeping down on the floor and jumping forward.
I laugh when little kitty clonks big kitty on the head using her front paw.
    I will send pictures later
