Year 5 and 6 had a very special assembly today led by Mr Wilkins. He is the deputy head at Queens College, teaches History and Polictics and is one of our governors.
Mr Wilkins taught us all about the politics in the UK. We looked at King Charles and how he is the head of state and not a politician, but still in charge of the country in some way.
We looked at the House of Lords and the House of Commons. The people in the House of Commons are elected by the people of the country and the House of Lords have to sign off on any new laws.
Mr Wilkins showed us the results of last year’s election and how the politics has changed in our country. We looked at some of the key people in UK politics including the labour and conservative parties as well as our prime minister.
Thank you Mr Wilkins for coming to speak to us, it was so interesting to learn more about politics in our country.
