This week, Year 2 students have been busy adding the final touches to their clay sculptures by painting them in bright, bold colours. Earlier this term, the class explored the work of Barbara Hepworth, focusing on her abstract style and the use of shape and space in her sculptures.
Using clay, the children created their own sculptures inspired by her work. They experimented with different shapes, holes, and smooth surfaces – just like Hepworth. Once the sculptures had dried, they carefully painted them, thinking about colour, texture, and how to make their designs stand out.
