This term, our school community gathered in faith and celebration for our annual Marian Procession. This is a special tradition where we honour Mary, the Mother of Jesus, during the month dedicated to her.

Led by the Pupil Chaplaincy Team, the whole school joined in a peaceful procession to St James’s Church, with the statue of Our Lady carried by the Pupil Chaplaincy Team. Along the way, pupils sang Marian hymns and reflected on Mary’s loving presence in our lives. As we walked to church, the children walked through Marylebone in class pairs, with the oldest Year 6 children leading the youngest pupils in Nursery.

The service continued inside St James’ church, where the Pupil Chaplaincy Team  led prayers and guided the congregation through the celebration. Their leadership helped set a reflective tone and made the celebration deeply meaningful for all.

As part of the celebration, two children from each class presented an Ivy plant at the altar – a symbol of Mary’s faithfulness and enduring love. These were blessed by Father Philip, creating a beautiful and meaningful display at the heart of our celebration. These Ivy plants will be displayed in every class upon their prayer tables as a reminder of this special occasion and Mary’ love for us.

Pupils from Year 1 and Year 5 performed a beautiful Liturgical dance in the centre of the Church. They danced gracefully to the song “Mother Mary, In Your Mercy”, offering a powerful expression of prayer through movement.

To conclude the celebration, our Chamber Choir sang a stunning rendition of Ave Maria, filling the space with a sense of peace, prayer, and devotion.

The Marian Procession was a truly special moment of unity, prayer, and reflection for our school. We are grateful to our Pupil Chaplaincy Team, staff, and all pupils for their respectful and heartfelt participation. May we continue to follow Mary’s example, drawing closer to God through her gentleness, courage, and unwavering faith.
