Today, sadly, marked the end of Year 6’s fantastic Manufacto experience. Everyone had the opportunity  to show off their finished, working lamp and also to speak about their learning in this project.

For twelve exciting weeks, we have been measuring, drilling, sawing, sanding and assembling our lamps. You can watch highlights of our amazing journey in the video.

Our lamps are now all ready to be taken home to be put in pride of place and treasured forever.

Lots of parents came to see our amazing work as well as Mrs Mitterlehner from Hermes, the company who have generously funded this wonderful experience for us.  We are extremely  grateful.

We were so pleased to see Emma and Camilla again but also so sad that the time has come to say goodbye to them.

Wednesdays have been our favourite day of the week for the whole of this project. We will always remember everything they’ve  taught us and we know we will go on to use so many of the carpentry skills and life skills that we have learnt from them. Thank you both for everything.

Many thanks to everyone who came to support us today and to also everyone who has supported this project over the last twelve weeks. We feel very fortunate indeed to have had this amazing experience in our last year at St. Vincent’s and we will remember it forever.

This year, making our own lamp was really fun! I am really proud of making it and thank you to Emma and Camilla for teaching us new skills and guiding us through building it. I learnt drilling screws into wood, sawing, sanding and assembling our lamp!🙂

  16. I learned so many skills like sawing and drilling which went fantastic looking at our end result (such beautiful lamps)! My favourite part was actually putting the lamp together as I could see how it all fit in shape and how all the maths in the beginning worked. Not only wood type skills I got more patient and I got more resilient as when something went wrong I didn’t give up. Overall, I am so grateful that Emma and Camilla came for twelve weeks and taught us so much. We hope you come to our school next year.
    THANK YOU!

This was a fantastic experience. Manufacto gave us an opportunity to learn more carpentry skills! The process of making the product (the lamp) was wonderful! Mostly painting the slats, pentagons and handle is more fun in my opinion.

    – To be more patient
    – To have more faith in myself
    – That you can make absolutely anything if you just set your mind to it
    – To never give up
Thanks a lot to Emma and Camilla for giving up their time for us every Wednesday to help us learn.
It was amazing and I can’t wait to set up the lamp in my bedroom.

  23. I loved doing manufacto because I didn’t know that I could be able to make a lamp by myself. I though this would be impossible but Camilla and Emma made it possible.

  24. This was a lovely experience to use lots of types of tools to saw wood. What I learned is that even though it is hard work it is very fun. Thank you for this lovely project!

This has shown me how to drill – which is an essential skill in your day- to-day life.

This is something I had never done before and it turned out to be fabulous!
I learned that this takes a lot of patience and hard work, but it was worth the wait.
Manufacto has given me the opportunity to be more independent on my work, so a very big thank you to Emma and Camilla for being so supportive and coming in every Wednesday to do this workshop! Of course, a very big thank you to the teachers as well for agreeing to organise it!❤

I really enjoyed everything about this project ! Even when at one point I ran out of the paint I was using, I came up with an idea to fix it. It taught me that even if something goes wrong, you can find away to turn it into art. For example, a bit of blue paint splattered onto my wood but when I saw how it stood out with the pink paint, I did it with all of the other slats of wood! In conclusion, I loved all of this and i think that everyone’s turned out amazingly.
