We have had an excellent first week back at school and we are all so happy to be back at school after the summer holiday. This week was a big change for year 1 as they endured the huge jump from Reception to Year 1 which involved sitting at desks, more routines and play time on the roof.

This week we learned about our rights and responsibilities. We explored how we can access our rights and what both children and adults can do to ensure these rights are respected both in and outside of school. Some of the key rights we discussed included the right to play, the right to learn, and the right to express our thoughts. As a class we then created our amazing class charter.

In addition, we explored the theme of Our Place in the World by looking at our local surroundings. The children had their first experience using Google Earth, which was extremely exciting! We also examined aerial images of our area and were able to identify Marylebone High Street, our school, and St James’ Church.

We had an amazing first week and the children seem to have all settled in brilliantly. We are so looking forward to our year all together!
