This week in Year 2, we have been learning about the idea of sin and what it means in our faith. Together, we explored the question “What is sin?” and thought carefully about how our actions can sometimes separate us from God, from each other, and even from ourselves. We shared our ideas and looked at what the Church teaches about sin — that it can be choosing to do something wrong, even when we know we shouldn’t, or not doing something good, even when we know we should.
To help us understand this further, we read the story of Noah’s Ark from the Bible (Genesis 6:9–9:17). We discovered how people at that time had turned away from God, and how this made Him sad. Through the story, we learned how God saved Noah, his family, and the animals, and gave us a sign of hope and love through the rainbow — His special promise never to flood the earth again.
After discussing the story, we looked at different pieces of art that showed Noah, the ark, the rainbow, and the dove with an olive branch. Inspired by these, the children created their own beautiful artwork to retell the story and show the signs of God’s promise. Their creations are now on display in our classroom, filling it with colour, faith, and hope.
We are so proud of how thoughtful Year 2 have been in their discussions and how creative they were in making such a wonderful display. Well done, Year 2!
