This week, Year 4 went on the first school trip of the year to the Science Museum in South Kensington. We went to watch a fantastic show called It Takes Guts, which details the human digestive system.
After travelling by bus over to South Kensington, we arrived at the Science Museum and headed straight to watch the show. We were met by our expert, Daisy, who welcomed us and told us that we would be the only school in the show. She explained the whole process of how food travels from our mouths all the way through the different organs before leaving our bodies as waste.
The show was very informative and we learnt about all the different food groups, as well as seeing some video footage of what it looks like inside the digestive system as food is travelling through it. These videos were not for the faint-hearted, but they were very interesting to see.
After we left the show, we went to have lunch in the picnic area and had some time to chat with our friends. After lunch, we went to the Medicine gallery to complete an activity trail, in which we had to work in our groups to solve the questions and find all the different artefacts. Some of them were very challenging, but we managed to answer all of the questions with facts collected as we walked around the gallery.
It was then time to head back to school after a long day of exploring. Thank you to the parent volunteers who supported us on our trip!
Year 4, what was your favourite part of the Science Museum?
