Dear Parents,

It was fantastic to speak to you all during parents evening!

Following our conversations, a few recurring areas came up which you requested some resources for. Please find the resources below to use alongside the homework and any other supplementary work which you do with the children at home. Thank you for your continued support and I hope you find them useful. If you would like any other resources or to be pointed in the right direction for Home Learning support for discrete topics, please do not hesitate to contact me via E-mail.

Reading resources have already been uploaded onto the Home Learning page in September. Please find these in the previous posts: https://www.stvincentsprimary.org.uk/home-learning/class/year-4/

Mr. Kersys.

Mathematics: RUCSAC is a useful step-by-step guide to approaching multi-step worded problems. This can be used for practice alongside the questions below (I have included the answers for you just to make it a little bit easier!):

Another fantastic way to help the children with their confidence in Mathematics is regular times tables practice. The times tables challenge which is completed in school weekly can be found on Google Classrooms under the Messages topic and below (please use Level 2 regardless of the level your child is on in class as this level has all of the times tables which they are required to know by the end of Year 4):

Level 2

A fractions wall is a simple tool to explore the relationship between fractions which we enjoy using in lessons:

English: Year 4 is an exciting time for Year 4 as the children are able to work towards and achieve their pen licence. This takes a lot of practice! To help with this you can find handwriting lines below. It would be a good idea to combine handwriting with the weekly homework spellings and practice both at the same time! These words could be put into sentence to build their confidence in handwriting. Further information about handwriting expectations in Year 4 can be found on the ‘Meet the Teacher’ presentation which can be easily found on our main Year 4 Classroom page: https://www.stvincentsprimary.org.uk/year-groups/year-4/

Happy practicing! 🙂
