This week we held a special Online Safety Meeting specifically for Year 6 parents. We had a great turn out and I urge all other parents to attend our next Online Safety Coffee Morning on Wednesday 17th January 2018. The internet is an amazing resource and technology is part of everyday life now but the younger generation can use it in a different way to us and it is important that parents are fully aware of how to try to keep their children safe online. This meeting will introduce you to the latest popular sites and the issues these may be presenting to our pupils.

To support you, we are constantly updating our Online Safety page www.stvincentsprimary/school-info/online-safety On this page you will find links to useful sites and resources.

We recently added instructions for how to apply parental controls for the four leading broadband providers : Sky, Virgin, BT, and Talk Talk. The website https://parentalcontrols-on.org provides more information,  allowing parents to select not only what broadband provider they have, but also what specific devices their children might own at home and step by step instructions on how to lock them down as well.

In the run up to Christmas we would also like to direct you to the resource  https://www.commonsensemedia.org/ which enables parents to check the suitability of any games (as well as books, films) before buying them for children as presents.

It is really important that home and school work together so please do come and speak to us if there are any issues you would like support with and we hope that many of you will be able to join us at the meeting in January.
