This term, Year 1 have been exploring the work of artist Paul Klee. In our recent art lesson, we carried out a detailed study, learning about his life and examining his unique style and artwork up close. Here are some of the things we discovered:
- Paul Klee is a famous artist who created 9000 pieces of art during his lifetime.
- Klee studied in both Germany and Italy in his early years of being an artist.
- In the beginning of his career as an artist Klee struggled to use colour in his art work. Much of his early work is black and white.
- During World War 1 Klee fought for Germany. His role was to paint camouflage onto planes.
- When Klee was 60 years old he became very unwell and sadly died. Until his death he carried on creating amazing pieces of artwork which are still remembered to this day.
The children then selected a piece of Paul Klee’s artwork and recreated it. It was so lovely to see the children using Klee as an inspiration and they produced some amazing art!
