At St. Vincent’s Catholic Primary School we truly value our mission statement, ‘Together Through Christ we Grow and Learn’, and try to apply our Christian values to all aspects of our life, both in school and at home. As Online Safety is such an important aspect of modern day life, we are always trying to support pupils and parents with their understanding of current issues. Technology is amazing and social media is an excellent way to stay in touch with friends and family but, unfortunately, can easily be misused.

Today in assembly we read the story of Digiduck’s Big Decision and thought about the key messages of being a good friend online, being  kind to others and making sensible choices. Please speak to your children to check their understanding of cyberbullying- help them to think carefully about how they behave online and remind them of our Anti Bullying focus earlier this year so they know what to do if they are aware of unkind online behaviour, whether towards themselves or others.

To support parents with their understanding of this important issue, please see the guidance below from the Department for Education which contains lots of important advice  about how parents can help children understand that cyber bullying is unacceptable behaviour and the importance of leading by example, which of course we all try to do.
