On Tuesdays, we spend time worshipping together as a class. So far this half term, we have used a variety of ways to pray and reflect together, such as the Examen and Pope Francis’ Five Finger Prayer. These have been lovely opportunities for us to think back over our day and dedicate prayers to important people around the world, from our family and friends, to our teachers, and even to world leaders.
This week, as we enter the month of October, Miss McCarry kindly brought us our very own rosaries. This felt really special, as we had learned more about this month in our Mark 10 Mission and also remembered when Father Philip had come into school previously to practise the Rosary with us as a whole school.
Today, we read the Gospel according to Luke, which told us about the Rich Man and Lazarus. We spoke together about how this Gospel reminds us that the way we live and treat others during our lifetime has an impact on our eternal life. It encouraged us to think about the importance of being kind, generous and thoughtful in our everyday actions.
Afterwards, we came together to use our rosaries. Two of our pupil chaplains helped to hand them out and one of them kindly led us in the beginning of the Rosary. We focused on the cross and the first five beads, up to the Glory Be. These are prayers that we are confident with, and it was wonderful to pray them aloud as a class, together.
We are looking forward to continuing with different parts of the Rosary throughout October as we grow in confidence and faith together.
How can we, like Lazarus, show kindness and care for those in need around us this week?
To show kindness this week,we can do something small like open the door for someone or remembering our manners as small changes can mean big things for others.
We can be kind and share by sharing with the poor and needy or join charities to support foodbanks that give food.
By showing kindness we can congratulate people when they have achieved something instead of lashing at them when you have not done it
It is really good to pray the Rosary especially because it is October.
We can show kindness by helping people on their tasks, or it can even be some small things such as opening the door for someone and tying someone’s shoelaces.
To show kindness this week we can look out for one another and do small things like smiling to people who pass because it can make them happy.
