This term, Year 6 are having a fantastic time, learning carpentry skills  in our special Design Technology project called ‘Manufacto’.

Every week, we are working with Emma, a specialist cabinet maker, supported by Camilla, who is studying Design, to make our own wooden lamps, which they can take home to keep.

So far, in only a few weeks, everyone has carefully measured, cut and sanded five wooden slats and a handle. We have been using saws, mallets, drills and chisels safely and competently.  Our lamps are starting to take shape now and we are really excited for each new step.

We will post again when we are finished to show you our completed lamps.

Many thanks again to everyone involved in this fantastic experience and to Hermès for developing and funding the project. We are learning so much and enjoying every minute of it!

What are you enjoying most in the Manufacto Project so far, Year 6?
