This week, we have been continuing our journey through Mythologica, a text we have absolutely loved exploring this term. We have uncovered fascinating facts about gods and goddesses and even delved into epic tales like The Odyssey.

In our latest lesson, we focused on four intriguing figures from Greek mythology: Aphrodite, Hephaestus, Hermes and Dionysus. As a class, we discussed how we might best describe each god or goddess using a wide range of adjectives. We did not stop at surface level thinking. We carefully considered why those words were appropriate, backing up our ideas with evidence from the text.

We then applied this in our books by writing Point, Evidence, Explain (P E E) paragraphs. This is a strategy we use in Shared Reading to help us structure our thinking. For each god or goddess, we made a clear point about their character, supported it with evidence from the text and explained how our evidence linked back to our point. This approach really helps us think more deeply about what we read and gives us valuable practice in expressing our ideas clearly.

Which of the four gods or goddesses do you think had the most interesting personality and why?
