This term in our English lessons, we have been reading many novels and non-fiction books linked to our World War 2 topic and using them as inspiration for our own writing.

For two weeks, we focussed on Poetry and read many poems written in and about war. We looked closely at the features of the poems, the language used to create imagery and how the poems made us feel.

Inspired by the poems that we had read, we have written our own World War 2 poems, focussing on using expanded noun phrases and figurative language such as similes, metaphors, personification and onomatopoeia.

We hope you enjoy reading our  poems.   How do they make you feel?

  1. I really loved making these poems because even though they are sad 😔 ,we could do whatever we wa wanted with them . We could draw on them , we could make them rhyme or we could just let them be a story in poem form.
