This week during our creative curriculum lessons we have been exploring Fairtrade.

First of all we played a game to highlight the importance of working cooperatively as we had to come up with a way to balance a cereal bar in the middle of our circle. We needed to as a team and communicate effectively but we did it!

We then explored ‘the banana chain’, what happens to a banana before it reaches the consumer, and realised that many different people have different important jobs to play before we can buy our food at the supermarket.

We worked as teams to decide what we thought each worker should be paid but we were shocked when we realised the reality of ‘who gets what’ from the sale of bananas!

We enjoyed a really thorough and in depth discussion about the importance of Fairtrade and it was great to be reminded that we are connected with people all around the world through the things we buy and eat!
