Class 6 went to Lord’s Cricket Ground to learn more about two of our favourite subjects: Art and P.E.! We had a fascinating tour around Lord’s and learnt more about the history of cricket. It was an incredible experience to look out over the famous pitch and to see the actual room where the cricket teams get changed. Our next stop was the Lord’s Museum, where we were thrilled to see the Ashes urn, believed to contain the ashes of a burnt cricket bail from 1882. Finally, we took part in an Art workshop on the theme of ‘Women in Sport’. This was very interesting as some of us had already noticed that there were no pictures of women cricketers in the Long Room in the Lord’s Pavilion but lots of pictures of men. Our next step now is to create our own canvases which will be entered into the ‘Howzart’ competition. The lucky winner will be going to watch the Women’s World Cup cricketing final at Lord’s.
