This week in PSED, we have been thinking about how we are all different and how we all like different things. The children used thumbs up and thumbs down to share things they like or don’t like, such as chocolate cake, fish and flying on planes. There were lots of comments about liking some things and not others.

We read a story about Mollie the Cat, who didn’t like doing things that cats usually enjoy and felt worried that her friends wouldn’t like her because of this. This helped us talk about how it’s okay to be different and to like different things.

During circle time, we passed around our teddy so everyone could take turns sharing. The children did a fantastic job waiting patiently and listening carefully to their friends. Some children shared that they like baking, spending time with a parent, playing with special toys and eating their favourite foods.

We talked about how, in our class, everyone likes different things. Sometimes we like the same things as our friends, and sometimes we don’t , but we are still friends. We then created a class tally chart to show the different toys and areas of the classroom that the children enjoy.

It was lovely to see the children thinking about their own likes and dislikes and confidently sharing them with their peers.
