Year 5 had a fantastic day of fun at Kidzania thanks to the kind generosity of the SVPA who funded the trip. As it was ‘Parliament Week’ in Kidzania, the children also took part in debating sessions to explore real-life experiences that are prevalent in our everyday lives, including the importance of democracy in the UK. The debating sessions allowed the class the opportunity to think about key political issues and the possible arguments on both sides. During the debating sessions, the children were required to debate on the motion and vote at the end. This required understanding the motion and arguments on both sides and nominating representatives for both arguments. Representatives (Opposers and Proposers) were asked to take to the stage, putting forward their argument on the motion, students in the audience were able to participate.

In addition to the excitement and freedom of the day, the children had a taste of ‘real life’ having to earn Kidzo’s (Kidzania currency) before they could spend it.

It is safe to say that parents cannot expect to be financially supported by their children anytime soon!
