This half term, pupils have been having lots of fun developing their music skills using chime bars. Each lesson begins with a cheerful warm-up, and this week pupils especially enjoyed singing a hello song that taught them how to say hello in four different languages. It was a great way to start the lesson and get everyone ready to learn.
The children then spent time exploring the chime bars. Earlier in the term, they learned to play the instruments using colour-coded notes. As they became more confident, Mr Hylton introduced the real musical names of each key. Pupils enjoyed recapping what they already knew before practising the correct names and using them while playing. Although it felt a little tricky at first, pupils showed fantastic perseverance and quickly grew in confidence.
The class then played their chime bars together while Mr Hylton sang and played the piano. Pupils listened carefully and worked hard to play the correct notes at the right time. With each attempt, they improved more and more, showing great teamwork and musical progress.
To finish the lesson, pupils sang a fun goodbye song, learning how to say goodbye in four different languages. It was a lovely end to an engaging lesson, and pupils left feeling proud of what they had achieved.
