This week in music, we continued working on an important group skill — creating a circle while singing our fun and familiar “Make a Circle” song. The children are gaining confidence in moving together and are becoming more aware of their peers as they sing and form a circle as a team.

After warming up with our song, the children were introduced to an exciting hands-on activity with Boomwhackers! Each child received a Boomwhacker of a different colour, with each colour representing a different musical note. They were fascinated to discover how the length and colour of each Boomwhacker created different pitches, and loved experimenting with the unique sounds they could make.

A highlight of the session was watching Mr. Hilton demonstrate how to play the Boomwhackers in rhythm — the children found it very funny! We also focused on important listening skills, especially responding to instructions like “stop” and “play.” It’s been wonderful to see their progress in following musical cues and working together as a group.

The joy and excitement in the room were clear — the children are developing not only musical skills but also coordination, focus, and collaboration. We can’t wait to continue exploring music in new and creative ways!
