Class 6 celebrated the end of our World War II project by throwing a fabulous Christmas party for our parents. However, this was a Christmas party with a difference- it took place during World War II! The classroom was decorated with recycled paper decorations, as paper was rationed during World War II. Our guests enjoyed traditional entertainment such as listening to Christmas carols and dancing the jive and lindy hop. Later, delicious refreshments were served based on recipes from World War II.  On the menu: ‘Dig for Victory’ vegetable soup, cheese scones, Dr Carrot’s carrot cookies and an eggless Christmas cake (eggs were also rationed). We even watched King George VI make his Christmas speech! The party was almost spoilt by an unexpected air-raid, but luckily our brave air-raid wardens kept us all safe from harm. Finally, we demonstrated our fantastic Science models which used circuits to work. We have really enjoyed our World War II project and are very pleased that we were able to share our learning in History, Drama, Music, Art, Design Technology, Science and P.E. with our parents.
