This week in Music, the children enjoyed a fun and lesson with Mr Hylton where we created our own music.

We began with a short singing warm up, singing ‘Touch Your Head, Head, Head’ while joining in with the actions. We sang the song at a normal pace, then slowly, and finally very fast, helping the children explore tempo and rhythm in music.

Next, the children received the chime bars. Their challenge was to select and arrange different notes to create the most beautiful sound. Mr Hylton demonstrated how different combinations of notes could be used, and the children enjoyed experimenting with their own arrangements. Each child had the opportunity to perform their creation to the class.

To finish, the children chose their favourite combinations and worked together to combine everyone’s ideas into one large class piece. They played their parts one by one without stopping, creating a beautiful Reception melody.

Well done everyone! It was a fantastic and fun first Music lesson of the Spring Term!
