This week we read the weekly Gospel (John 2:13–22). The children gathered together and helped to lay out all of the special items in our circle. After reading the Gospel, we talked about what we could learn from it. It taught us that Jesus wants everyone to take care of God’s house because it is special, and this is how we show God respect. We then thought about the things we can do to follow the teachings of Jesus.
We linked this to the place of worship we attend, St James’s Church. The children talked about how we stay quiet, look after the space, and never leave rubbish on the floor to show God that we care.
This week our focus was also on meditation, and the children were brilliant at sitting calmly and reflecting on what they had learnt. We played some peaceful music and modelled how to sit still and quietly to feel closer to God and to think about the message of the Gospel.
