Yesterday, we were incredibly lucky to visit Regent’s Park with Harry from MCC to play a game of cricket. We began the day with a fun warm up called noodle tag before Harry explained the cones and boundaries that had been set up. We learnt that if the ball dropped and rolled outside the boundary, we would earn 4 points. If we hit it straight outside without it touching the ground, we would earn 6 points!
We were then split into two teams for our exciting match. Harry explained that if the fielders caught a batter out, the fielding team would be awarded 10 points, so every catch really counted.
Throughout the game, we showed brilliant team spirit and encouraged one another. It was a great opportunity to practise our batting and fielding skills. We even began to remember that the ball travels faster than we do. Lots of us had been running with the ball in our hands instead of throwing it quickly to our teammates!
A big thank you goes to Mr Aitken for organising such a brilliant event, and also to the parents who came along to support us, and to those who met us there too.
On such a sunny day, it was a treat to be outdoors. When we returned to school, we also had a PE lesson. In this session, we focused on our bowling technique. Harry showed us how to position our feet to help improve the direction of the ball. We had a fantastic time refining our skills.
What was your favourite part of the day, and what new skill did you learn?
Cricket in Regent’s Park looks like a lot of fun year 5! All the game and skills you learned are very impressive! Hope you had fun.
Can we do this again? 🙂 It was really fun (apart from the mosquitoes!)

This was AMAZING. My favorite part was being the wicket!! I also batted twice and got 1 run the first time and 2 runs the second! But, it was really hot as well, so I didn’t really enjoy it. At the end, we got to go to the playground!!!
