This week, Reception enjoyed taking part in an active PSED session all about our wonderful bodies!

We began our lesson by listening to an interactive story called ‘Freddy Teddy and Mollie the Cat Take a Walk’, which had us all moving around the classroom as we joined the characters on their adventure. The class loved completing the different actions they encountered in the story and joining in with the characters such as running, jumping, splashing and climbing!

Next, we recalled that God made each of our bodies and how every body is special and capable in its own way, both in the things we can see (like moving, dancing or hugging) and the things we can’t see happening inside us. The children then named different body parts and pointed out each one of their own bodies and joined in beautifully with Heads, Shoulders, Knees and Toes to help us remember each of the main parts of our body.

We finished by thinking about how we can look after the amazing body God has given us such as through exercise, sleep and healthy food, ending with a short prayer of thanks.

The children were enthusiastic, confident and shared so many different ideas about how we can care for our bodies in our daily lives, as well as why this is so important.

Well done Reception for your fantastic effort!
