Today we are holding a Pyjama Danceathon to raise money for Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH).  As a Catholic school we always try to think of others and this term our Green Team and School Council have chosen to support this important charity, which has helped many of our families.

Every day brings new challenges at Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH). Every day, 619 children and young people from across the UK arrive for life-changing treatments. Every day, young lives hang in the balance as patients, families and staff battle the most complex illnesses. Every day, the brightest minds come together to achieve pioneering medical breakthroughs that change the lives of thousands of children – and change the world. Despite the greatest challenges a child can face, the hospital is a place where being sick does not always mean being sad. And it’s a place where you’ll find – today and every day – some of the bravest people you could ever meet.

Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity supports the hospital and its patients by funding four key areas: rebuilding and refurbishment, support for families and children, research into children health and life saving medical equipment. We learnt about this important work in a special assembly on Monday. We also thought about the words of the Gospel, Luke 6:27-38: ‘Be compassionate as your Father is compassionate’ and how we can take action to help others who may be suffering.

The pupils decided that to raise money for GOSH we could all wear our pyjamas to school and make a £1 donation and that we could be sponsored to dance throughout the day. We are looking forward to a fun day, for a great cause. Thank you to everyone for supporting us. Don’t forget to bring in your sponsorship money!
