This week, Year 2 had a fantastic time celebrating Science Week, exploring the theme “Curiosity: What’s Your Question?” through exciting investigations and a very special visitor.

We were delighted to welcome Dougie Dug Dug, who brought science to life with an energetic and engaging show. The children were encouraged to ask questions, make predictions, and think carefully about how the world works. There were lots of laughs, surprises, and amazed faces as we watched exciting demonstrations and learned how science helps us understand God’s wonderful creation.

We explored the big question: How do boats float? The children worked collaboratively in groups to design and build their own rafts using cubes and different materials. They loved experimenting, testing their ideas, and improving their designs to see which rafts would float the best. It was wonderful to see such great teamwork, problem-solving, and curiosity in action.

During the show, Dougie also linked science to our faith, reminding us that science and religion work together and that everyone has an important role to play. The children especially enjoyed joining in with songs and actions, filling the room with energy and joy.

Science Week has inspired lots of thoughtful questions and excitement about learning. Year 2 had an amazing time experimenting, discovering, and exploring – proving that curiosity really is at the heart of learning!
