This week in PE, we continued to build on our cricket skills, focusing on communication, patience, and working together as a team. We began the session with a warm-up to get our blood flowing and our bodies ready for action.

Next, we were split into teams of batters and fielders. In pairs, the batters practised running between the wickets. This part of the session required careful communication and patience because we learned that a run could only count if both partners coordinated and were ready to move. We had to call out to our partner, listen carefully, and decide together when it was safe to run, practising phrases like “Ready,” “Yes,” and “Go” to move in sync.

At the same time, the fielders practised passing the ball around while the batters were running in the middle. We had to work quickly, think ahead, and communicate clearly with each other to ensure smooth passing. This helped us develop our throwing accuracy, teamwork, and anticipation skills, all while keeping an eye on the batters running between the wickets.

Throughout the session, we showed great patience, understanding that rushing without checking with our partner would mean no point was scored. We also practised clear, confident communication, which helped the games run safely and effectively. Encouragement was a big part of the lesson too, with us cheering each other on and celebrating great efforts from both batters and fielders.

By the end of the session, it was clear that not only were we improving our cricket technique, but we were also developing important life skills like teamwork, patience, and mutual support.

What part of our cricket lesson did you enjoy the most?
