Today, Year 2 had a wonderful trip to St. James’ Church in Marylebone! We were excited to meet Father Philip and learn all about the sacrament of Baptism. Father Philip gave us a warm welcome and shared his knowledge about the special parts of the church that are used during a Baptism ceremony. We saw the beautiful baptismal font where babies are baptised, and Father Philip explained how water is used to symbolise new life in Christ.

During our visit, we also learned about the important symbols in Baptism, such as the white garment, the candle, and the oil. Father Philip told us how each one has a special meaning. The white garment represents being pure and clean, the candle symbolises the light of Christ, and the oil reminds us of God’s protection and blessing.

We even had the chance to ask Father Philip lots of interesting questions, which made the visit even more interactive and exciting. It was amazing to see how these traditions are carried out and to understand the significance behind each part of the ceremony.

A big thank you to Father Philip for making today so special, and to the parent volunteers who joined us and helped make the trip possible.
