Year 2 had a wonderful trip today to the Florence Nightingale Museum, which is next to St Thomas’ Hospital. There we met Florence who told us all about her life and her family. She had so many animals, including chameleons, tortoises, an owl and lots of cats. Florence explained how girls used to not be educated, but she loved to learn and read lots of books to teach herself Maths and Nursing. Eventually she went to the Scutari Hospital to help soldiers in the Crimean war.

We loved getting to hear her stories, dress up in the outfit they used to wear, and think about how different it is compared to now. She wrote a book called Notes on Nursing, and it is still used today!

Thank you to all the parents who helped us on the trip, we really enjoyed learning more with your help.
