This week, Year 3 attended the Science museum to watch their ‘Feel the Force’ interactive show in the museum’s lecture theatre.

We began by exploring the museum’s galleries by taking part in the ‘Great Object Hunt’. We each had a ‘Great Object Hunt’ leaflet and three or four recommended galleries to find objects such as one that could move heavy boxes, one that can travel on rough or bumpy ground, one that can move easily through air or water and one that can fly but doesn’t have wings, among others. Recommended galleries to explore included ‘Making the Modern World’, ‘Information Age’, ‘Flight’ and ‘Space’.

After we had lunch in the basement area, it was time for the show and there were lots of excellent live demonstrations presented by Sir Isaac Newton and Phil the Stunt Frog. We got to see large magnets in action, a demonstration of air resistance, a rocket launch and the difference between push and pull forces. Some of the demonstrations even involved some members of our own class volunteering to participate.

We had an excellent day and learned a lot about forces to get us ready for our next Science topic! Well done Year 3!
