Year 4 went to the Environmental Area in Paddington Recreation Ground to learn more about living things, classifying them and their habitats.

We had two activities; first, we went pond dipping. This meant that we had to use nets to collect insects and amphibians from the pond and put them into our trays. Once we had collected lots, we had to use scientific keys to work out which living thing they were.

Second, we went on a minibeast hunt. We explored the woods to find as many living things as we could find. We got to use scientific equipment to help us collect, store and examine the minibeasts.

We loved exploring the woods and the pond wildlife and had a great time getting a little bit soggy and muddy! Thank you to the SVPA for funding our amazing trip!
