We had a fantastic Creativity Morning today!

We discussed different film genres and created collages to convey a particular genre with free choice of materials.

We looked at the illustrations in Hugo Cabret and used charcoal to imitate the illustrations by Brian Selznick. We sketched our partner (who posed as a model) in black and white.  We could choose an angle, a close-up or a pan view just like the different examples in the book Hugo Cabret.

It was really fun to use the colour-wash technique when painting the image of Paris with the Eiffel Tower as a silhouette. We were inspired to do this after we saw the opening image of Paris in the novel Hugo Cabret. We also created silhouettes (using black card and white paper) just like the illustrations drawn by Dave McKean in the book Varjak Paw.

Have a look at some of our artwork below.

Thank you so much to all the parents who joined us!
