Year 5 had a fantastic morning at St. George’s Catholic Secondary School on Wednesday 26th June.

Invited by their Science department, the class were set the task of building a rocket based on the learning acquired during the session and on their own understanding of forces.

All teams were judged on three areas: the distance their rocket flew from the launch pad; attractiveness and functionality of their design and teamwork.

In groups, the children designed, built, tested and then finally launched their rockets. It was very competitive but all had fun.

The activity proved a triumph for Year 5 as all rockets were solidly constructed, attractive and flew some distance!  However the overall winning team was ‘Team Rhys’, comprising of Rhys, Laetitia, Lola, Ethan and Timothy. Well done to all.

The continued collaboration between St. Vincent’s and St. George’s provides a great opportunity for our students to experience science in a secondary school environment.
