Last week, Year 6 had lots of fun during our World War 2 themed Creativity morning. We learnt more about life on the Home Front by cooking an eggless chocolate cake using a recipe from the 1940’s (remember, many ingredients were rationed during and after World War 2). It tasted surprisingly delicious! We also followed the war-time advice: ‘Make do and Mend’, by turning old strips of material into a colourful plaited rag-rug. Our charcoal sketches conveyed the emotions that some evacuees might have experienced, while our mixed media collages showed London during the Blitz. With Remembrance Day so close, we also remembered those who have died in war by making beautiful clay poppies.
